How do I stop these annoying Norton alerts that pop up due to the firewall being disabled?

TMB66 asked:

I have to disable my Norton firewall to access my company’s intranet. Every few minutes a Norton alert pops up telling my there is a problem with my Norton. I understand its helpfulness if I were not aware of the problem, but since I am aware that I have it turned off, it is really annoying. I looked around the control panel in Norton and didn’t see anything I thought would fix this problem. Help!

turn fire wall back on, Of course, apparently you will not be able to go to the company’s site.. Why not make an exception for your company on the firewall. This way, firewall is up and you can connect to your company’s site.
edit : no, not avg,, use avira, avg is crap, norton is not much better, look at the av comparatives. avira is on top.

uninstall norton completely and get avg

The guy above got it half right. Uninstall Norton, install Avira Free or Avast home. AVG is a terrible antivirus, don’t use it.

Make sure you get an extra firewall if you do take this route, the windows firewall is pretty much no protection whatsoever. Zonealarm free always gets pretty good reviews.
